Of all the historical bridges in Isfahan, Iran, crossing the Zayandeh Rud river, the Allah-Verdi Khan Bridge known as Si-o-Se Pol (33 Arches) is highly ranked as being one of the most famous examples of Safavid bridge design and one of the most praised Safavid Structures.
Built at the beginning of the 17th century on the order of Shah Abbas and in continuation of Chahar Bagh Street in Isfahan, the bridge is the longest one on the Zayandeh Rud River with the total length of 297.76 meters (976.9 ft), consisting two rows of 33 arches from either sides, left and right.
While strolling by the Zayandeh Rud River, one can enjoy Isfahan’s sceneries from alcoves located on two sides of the bridge and have a cup of tea on the planks in teahouses at either end of the bridge, both accessed through the larger arches underneath, though only the northern one remains, making the pastime or trip even more pleasant.
Regarding photo opportunity for future remembrance, the bridge provides the best and most memorable view, especially at nights as myriads of visitors attest when the lights illuminate the arches, making it quite exceptional and stunning.
